Italian pianist and composer Pietro Aloi (b. 2002) is one of the most outstanding musicians arising from the young European jazz scene. He is an active part of the Dutch and Italian jazz community, thanks to his concert activity in several line-ups (chiefly solo, duo and trio) and collaborations with some of the most prominent musicians on the European scene, including Michael Moore, Federica Lorusso, and Carlo Nicita.
Sound Research
Aloi has performed in several countries — including USA, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Romania — and has participated in prestigious music festivals such as JazzMi, PianoCity Milano, JazzFest (Amsterdam) and EuropaFest (Bucharest). His piano style is rooted in jazz and improvisation but also draws inspiration from other worlds such as classical music – especially in terms of the search for a refined and wide-ranging sound – and Brazilian music, from which he has borrowed especially the percussive aspect. The result of this synthesis consists of a highly personal approach to the piano, capable of arousing emotion through meticulous attention to sonic nuances while surprising the listener through unconventional improvisational choices and engaging rhythms.

Despite his extensive background in technical development, what sets Pietro Aloi apart as a pianist is his sensitivity in perceiving aspects that go beyond any instrumental virtuosity.
