Musical Projects and Collaborations
Project
Solo Piano
The solo piano is what inspires Pietro Aloi the most. In this setting, the sounds of the piano communicate to the audience the transcendence and intensity of his emotions, based on a repertoire that arises spontaneously from his state of mind and that only he knows when he sits down at the piano. It is in this framework that the pianist presents his creative essence, responsible for a fluid and heterogeneous musical identity, as a reflection of everything that has happened. As his comfort zone and an open door to the possibilities of feeling, in his piano solo shows, Aloi invites the audience to surrender to the music with the artist himself.
Recordings & Collaborations
“It is where I approach the instrument without fear, in its purest form. At that moment, it is just me, the audience, the piano, and my emotions.”
Project
Duo Conversations - Federica Lorusso & Pietro Aloi
A bold and intimate musical journey, “Duo Conversations” brings together the expressive voice of Federica Lorusso and the imaginative piano of Pietro Aloi in a project that redefines the classic voice-piano duo. Rather than a soloist with accompaniment, this is a true dynamic dialogue where both instruments speak, listen, and respond with equal weight and nuance. Their repertoire blends original compositions with other songs from jazz and Brazilian music, creating a rich tapestry of sound that is both sophisticated and spontaneous. Each performance is a celebration of interplay, where musical ideas are exchanged freely, and the essence of jazz — creativity, spontaneity, and boundless expression — is brought vividly to life.
Project
Pietro Aloi Trio
The trio led by Pietro Aloi stands out for its modern and deeply collaborative approach, in which each instrument becomes an essential voice in a free and engaging musical dialogue.
The group’s sound intertwines the rhythmic drive of African and South American traditions with the attention to timbre and sonic nuances typical of the European school, creating a musical universe rich in contrasts and poetry.
The repertoire — consisting mainly of original compositions by the pianist — is a journey through rhythm, lyricism, and improvisation, where every concert becomes an intense and unpredictable experience.
Project
Michael Moore & Pietro Aloi duo
Michael Moore and Pietro Aloi create a musical partnership that is as refined as it is adventurous. Their sound blends delicacy with playfulness, and their performances unfold like a rich journey through diverse traditions and styles. The duo was born at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where Moore was a professor and Aloi a student. Their artistic affinity led them to join forces to explore music from various origins in the intimate setting of a duo. Moore and Aloi share a passion for musical traditions from all over the world: their repertoire, in addition to including original music, spans from music written by the great Broadway composers of the 1930s and ’40s — including Cole Porter and Richard Rodgers — to the world of Brazilian choro, with nods to legendary musician Pixinguinha. Moore’s lyrical phrasing and expressive tone intertwine seamlessly with Aloi’s inventive harmonic colors and rhythmic vitality. Together, they craft a sound world that is sophisticated yet spontaneous, enriched by a joyful, uninhibited approach to improvisation.
Project
Nicita / Aloi Duo
The Nicita / Aloi Duo brings together the expressive clarinet of Carlo Nicita and the evocative piano of Pietro Aloi in a project rooted in lyrical storytelling and spontaneous interplay. Drawing from jazz standards, original compositions and the rich tradition of Italian melody, the duo creates an intimate musical conversation where each instrument breathes, responds and guides in equal measure. Their performances balance structured beauty with the thrill of the unexpected: moments of tenderness give way to rhythmic intensity, silence becomes as expressive as sound. The result is a chamber jazz experience that feels both timeless and deeply personal.
